Is the internal structure of the pressure sensor solid?

In fact, the internal structure of pressure sensors, force sensors or other types of sensors we see every day is not necessarily solid. The structure of pressure sensors usually includes sensitive body, contact body, mechanical support and circuit parts. Among them, the sensitive body is the core component, which is responsible for converting the external pressure into electrical signals for output. The material of the sensor can be thin film or metal elastomer, such as misplaced insulated cable, silicon, steel, alloy, etc. In the diaphragm pressure sensor, the diaphragm is a flat diaphragm, which is integrated with the annular shell to form a sealed pressure measuring chamber.

The reason why the internal structure of the pressure sensor is not solid is mainly to ensure that it can measure the pressure change accurately and sensitively. The following are several key reasons: structure of sensor: the sensor of pressure sensor usually adopts thin film or metal elastomer, and these materials will be displaced or deformed when subjected to external pressure. If the internal structure is solid, this deformation will be difficult to occur, thus affecting the sensitivity and accuracy of the sensor.

Signal transmission mechanism: the pressure sensor needs to convert the sensed pressure change into an electrical signal for output. This usually changes the electrical brightness of the conductive material through the deformation of the sensitive body, and then generates an electrical signal. The solid structure will obviously hinder the effective operation of this signal transmission mechanism. Mechanical support and sealing: Although the mechanical support is a part of the pressure sensor structure, its function is to support the sensor structure and bear a large external force, rather than making the whole sensor solid. At the same time, the sealing material is used to protect the pressure sensing element and ensure that it can measure the pressure accurately, but this does not mean that the whole sensor is solid inside.

Design principle: Different types of pressure sensors (such as diaphragm type, piezoresistive type, capacitive type, etc.) have their specific design principles and structural characteristics. These designs usually require the sensitive body to have certain flexibility and deformability in order to accurately respond to changes in external pressure. The solid structure obviously does not meet these design requirements.

It can be seen that the internal structure of the pressure sensor is not solid to ensure that it can accurately measure and transmit pressure change information. This design takes into account the structure of the sensor, signal transmission mechanism, mechanical support and sealing and other needs.
